Welcome Tracy Gardner!

Please tell us about yourself. 🙂Â
I moved to Portland, Oregon from Greensboro, North Carolina in January 2017 with my family to pursue new careers. I like to read mostly non-fiction but I’ve been getting into the Game of Thrones book series lately. I love watching movies, mainly action/adventure and sci-fi. Hard pass on the romantic comedies! My hobbies are tennis, basketball, golf, chess, and video games.
What’s your experience with libraries and higher education?
I have worked in libraries for over 10 years. I started working as a Student Librarian Assistant at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) while pursuing my B.A. in Anthropology. A few years after graduating, I went back to school and obtained a Master’s in Library Science in 2014. Soon after, I worked for 2 years as a circulation clerk at Greensboro Public Library in NC before moving to Portland which led me to Cannell Library.

Favorite quote?
“To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
Thank you so much and welcome Tracy!
