This Week In History
Just in time for Halloween, we celebrate the birthday of the author of The Picture of Dorian Gray. Oscar Wilde was born this week in 1854. The Picture of Dorian Gray is the story of a man who wishes that his painted portrait would age while he would not. Eerily, his wish is granted, but ultimately with consequences. The Picture of Dorian Gray can be found in our General collection at PR5819 .A15 2003.
“The real reason for comedy is to hide the pain.”

“Too many of us are hung up on what we don’t have, can’t have, or won’t ever have. We spend too much energy being down, when we could use that same energy – if not less of it – doing, or at least trying to do, some of the things we really want to do.”
