Renovate
Renovate: to make changes and repairs to a physical space so that it receives a refreshed look and improved condition.
User-friendly experiences are important at Clark College Libraries and positive experiences is part of the impetus behind the renovations and multiple phase projects happening in Cannell Library.
The renovation efforts are focused on creating an atmosphere that supports library services and contemporary approaches to scholarship. Collaborative skills are further developed and encouraged through resources provided in the Common Area of Cannell Library. The space is intended to accommodate a diverse user group and their needs to optimize their experience and learning. The open space provides flexibility to move furniture that supports group work and whiteboards for working through and sharing ideas.
The refreshed look of the Commons Area includes a new staircase and carpet. Service desks for Reference and TechHub services will be centrally located near the new staircase. New furniture is on its way that will complement the sea of blue and green in the carpet.
Transition is taking place within the library collection as well; many new e-books are available for your consideration such as Sustainable Renovation and Facilities Change Management. There are also traditional paper-based resources to view and borrow.
Technology-rich space can be found on both first and second floors of Cannell Library. Currently, the Second Floor Lib Lab is undergoing a new layout and installation of new computer desks.
The ongoing renovations reflect efforts to bring together tools, resources, and the physical space to accommodate the learning community’s needs. The future is an integrated service center where users connect with the space that meets their needs with a high level of engagement.
