Introducing Academic Video Online (AVON)!
Need more educational films in your life? Check out Clark College Libraries’ newest database, Academic Video Online! Called “AVON” for short, this database features over 66,000 films and videos on subjects ranging from Fashion Studies to Health Policy, and from Engineering to Dance. You can explore this database for video resources for your Nursing and Dental Hygiene courses, or browse for documentaries related to your academic or professional interests. Or, if you’re like me, you might utilize AVON to brush up on your cooking techniques, or to learn more about your favorite hobby (in my case, that’s weaving!)
Some more cool features about AVON:
- The Film Platform channel features over 300 popular documentary films, such as RBG and Dolores. There are also channels specific to series and films from PBS, BBC Landmark, and Sony Picture Classics, among other outlets. Never seen the British marine life documentary series Blue Planet II? Now’s your chance!
- For students and fans of theater, there’s the Theatre in Video collection, with nearly 600 video recordings of live plays, and the BroadwayHD Collection, a collection of live-recorded Broadway shows.
- Channels by subject, covering a range of subjects offered at Clark College and beyond. AVON has channels specific to Black Studies, Counseling & Therapy, LGBT Studies, Literature, historic Newsreels, Social Work, Travel, and How-To videos, among many others.
