CTC iCommons Browsing Collection
Looking for something to read during the holiday break?

Located in the CTC iCommons is the Browsing Collection which offers a broad range of subjects. Items featured among the history section are two titles: Gettysburg: The Graphic Novel by C. M. Butzer and Mr. President: How and Why the Founders Created a Chief Executive by Ray Raphael.

C. M. Butzer depicts the Battle of Gettysburg in comic book style. The fully-illustrated graphic adaptation draws its inspiration from primary sources, letters, diaries, speeches, and President Abraham Lincoln’s writing to portray the historical event.

How did George Washington become president? Ray Raphael describes fascinating electoral processes of the past. For example, States would choose electors however they felt. Electors would meet on a single day at their respective state capitals. Each elector would vote for two presidential options; one was required to live in another state. The person who gathered the winning vote became president and second place was vice president.
