30 Clicks: Managing your Online Identity
30 Clicks: Information Tools at Your Fingertips
This week: Managing your Online Identity
Thursday, October 21 @ 12:15 pm in LIB 103
This session will provide hints and tips for managing your online identity. Don’t let your public/online identity cause embarrassment or cost you a potential job. Facebook, Twitter, Linked In, even blogs, provide you with new ways to connect with friends, potential employers, and the world at large. When using online social networks the lines between public and private, personal and professional become blurred. In a 2006 survey by executive search firm ExecuNet 77 of 100 recruiters said they use search engines to check out job candidates. It’s true; sometimes you can share too much. In this workshop, with Michelle Bagley, we’ll discuss ways to manage boundaries, practices, policies and technology in the move to Internet based networking.
